So you're heading to a wedding and want to put together a great gift that the newlyweds will love and remember, but this isn't Mother's Day circa 2001 and a macaroni painting just isn't going to do....well don't panic, because I've got a simple gift that's way cooler than a toaster and costs just about the same to make.
BEFORE YOU BUY ANYTHING: ***Know who you're buying for.***
If your aunt is Mormon or a recovering alcoholic, this particular gift set may come off a lot less caring and a lot more careless, and Lord knows you're mom will never let you live it down if you inadvertently cause Aunt Jeanine's relapse, so avoid a decade of rough Thanksgivings and lectures on the phone by doing your homework. Do a little social media creeping and see if there are any things that they adore or can't stand. If you're nervous about where your gift might fall, solicit some help from family or better yet check their registry.
Step 1: Remove the price tags. Giving a super expensive gift or a super cheap gift with the price tags is always SUPER tacky.
Step 2: Place a cake round inside the cake pan.
Step 3: Place the champagne glasses upside down around the edge of the cake pans and trace lightly with a pencil.
Step 4: Place a thin layer of tulle at the bottom of the cake pan.
Step 5: Hot glue the mini booze bottles in the center of the traced circle.
Step 6: Place the coasters in the center. For a step by step on how to make the ones I used, check out my tutorial.
Step 7: Place the champagne bottle on top of the coasters in the middle with a gorilla tape loop in the center.
Step 8: Hot glue the champagne glasses upside down over the mini bottle.
Step 9: Fill in the empty space with more tulle and small gifts (in this case wine stoppers and a jigger).
Step 10: Wrap ribbon or tulle around it and tie a bow in the front.
Step 11: Place electric tea light candles on the glasses with double sided tape.
Step 12: Get a friend/wedding date to help you transport your masterpiece from your kitchen to the gift table. Trying to open doors and balance this beauty is a serious pain.
Step 13: Turn on the electric candles when you get there and leave it on the gift table to shine on in all it's glory.
